What’s New in the 2020 Chevy Sonic?

Though the Chevy Sonic just received a mid-generation refresh in the 2017 model year, there are still plenty of exciting updates in store for the 2020 model. The biggest change is that every model of the Sonic now comes standard with the turbocharged 1.4-liter engine and six-speed automatic transmission that were previously reserved for upper trims. Additionally, two new colors - Oasis Blue and Cayenne Orange Metallic - have been added to the Sonic’s color palette.

There are three trim levels for the 2020 model year:

• LT
• Premier

Even the base LS model comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto, Bluetooth®*, a Wi-Fi hotspot, the turbocharged engine, and a four-speaker stereo. Upgrading to higher trims offers amenities like a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated seats, push-button start, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, leatherette upholstery, and more.

The 2020 Sonic scored incredibly well on crash and safety tests, and a number of driver assistance features are available to add extra reassurance while you drive. For 2020, you can equip your Sonic with rear parking sensors, lane-departure warning, and forward collision warning.

The Sonic was first released as the Aveo in 2002 as a subcompact sedan and hatchback. The Aveo proved to be a popular model in every market, which included the United States, Europe, China, and Central America.
